Nice small Park in the trees. Unisex individual bathrooms w/ shower which are very nicely kept. $20 was the price with full hookups. Will stay here again.
This campground is well kept. The owners man the desk and operate the CG, unlike many. Yes, the entrance is only about 100Ft back from I70 but if noise is a problem request a sight in the rear as I did, behind the Pond. Noise was thus no issue for me. Small pool but well maintained. Nice Kiddy playground. Have stayed here down through the years and will again.
If you rely on GPS you will not get to this CG. Follow the directions and bear right at the Y. Most sites are long term rentals but there is a section close to the Bathhouse which is kept for Travelers. Useful for Snowbirds fleeing South and then heading back North because it is close to I79 and is open year-round. We like it because it is very close to McConnell's Mill State Park. We will camp there again.
The rate is with Golden Access Pass. This COE park is on the Youghiogheny River and is one of only two CGs on the Great Allegheny Passage Rail Trail (from Pittsburgh to Cumberland on the Grade of the old Western Maryland RR). For Bicyclists it doesn't get any better than this. It is a 10.5 mile ride to Ohiopyle. We use this campground every chance we get.
Manatees! Where else can you wake up, take a short stroll and watch Manatees in shallow clear water? Yes, many sites are unlevel. Yes, the Bath houses are unheated with open ends so when it is 26DegF outside a shower is not in the picture. The new Bike Path is paved and very nice as it goes out through the Woods. The passing Trains are no louder than passing Diesel pickups are in the CG and the Locomotive Whistles are in the distance. We will definitely stay here again. Did I mention Manatees?
